Experts at a discussion on Sunday called upon the authorities concerned to use ‘Blockchain’ in banking sector for reducing operating costs and ensuring security.
They made the call at the discussion on ‘Relevance of Blockchain for Bankers in Bangladesh’ at the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) in the city, said a press release.
BIBM Executive Committee Chairman and Bangladesh Bank (BB) Deputy Governor SM Moniruzzaman attended the discussion as the chief guest while BIBM Chair Professor Dr Barkat-e-Khuda presided over the meeting.
Among others, BIBM Professor and Director (Administration and Accounts and Research, Development and Suggestion) Dr Prasanta Kumar Benarjee and BIBM Associate Professor M Mahbubur Rahman, among others, spoke on the occasion.
The speakers said that the blockchain system is very promising in the banking system. “Although, the system has already become popular in some countries of the world, but, in Bangladesh, the journey of the system has just started,” they added.
