Information Minister and Awami League (AL) Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud has urged expatriate Bangladeshis to work in unison sinking all differences to contribute to the country’s march towards progress.
“Each expatriate is a representative of Bangladesh abroad. Only patriotism can bind them together. Success of life lies in working for the country by sinking all differences,” he said.
The minister said this while addressing a public rally organized by Belgium unit of AL at the auditorium of Bridge University of Brussels recently marking the 70th founding anniversary of AL, said a handout here on Monday.
Hasan Mahmud informed that the Bangladesh government is working to ensure the voting rights of the expatriate Bangladeshis.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Belgium Shahadat Hossain and All European AL President M Nazrul Islam addressed the rally as special guests with Belgium AL President Shahidul Haque in the chair.
All European AL General Secretary Mujibur Rahman addressed the rally as the chief speaker and France AL President Benjir Ahmed Selim addressed as an invited guest while Belgium AL General Secretary Jahangir Chowdhury Ratan conducted it.
Later, alumni of Bridge University of Brussels and former president of international students’ organization of the university Dr Hasan Mahmud was accorded a reception at the function.
In his speech, the minister recalled his memories as a student in Brussels.
Earlier, Dr Hasan held a meeting with European External Action Services Managing Director Gunnar Wiegand.
At the meeting, they discussed about modern and safe management of information and telecast arena.
