Rajshahi Correspondent :Speakers at a post-rally discussion said here yesterday the collective effort has become an urgent need to make all the fertile families planned for the sake of happy and prosperous Bangladesh.They viewed that there is no way, but to create public awareness about aspects of planned family and that is very important for freeing the nation from the curse of poverty and hunger besides attaining economic emancipation.Divisional and district offices of the Department of Family Planning organiased the discussion in the conference hall of Family Welfare Visitors Training Institute (FWVTI) in observance of the World Population Day-2015.Commissioner of Rajshahi division Helaluddin Ahmed and Deputy Commissioner Mejbah Uddin Chowdhury addressed the meeting as the chief and special guests respectively with divisional director of the Department of Family Planning SM Zahedul Karim in the chair.In his welcome speech, deputy director-in-charge of the department Tasiqul Islam Amir Hossain gave an overview of the district level family planning activities and, so far, achievements.The speakers said the national development activities are being hampered due to the population burden and stressed the need for giving highest priority to the family planning activities.They laid emphasis on bringing all the fertile couples under the campaign programme through reaching the family planning message to them especially those who live in remotest and underprivileged areas.Highlighting the necessity of expediting the village-level family planning activities, the speakers underlined the need for giving top priority to motivating the fertile couples so that they could control their unwanted pregnancy through using contraceptives.”If we can control the unexpected pregnancies in the greater perspective, country’s population could be reduced to a tolerable rate easily,” said Helaluddin Ahmed adding the field level workers should be more careful and attentive to performing their respective duties.BSS from Gaibandha reports: Speakers at a function said planned and skilled populations are urgent need for ensuring sustainable development of the country and to take the nation ahead as well.”In this context, importance should be given on reducing rate of unwanted pregnancy and fertility through expediting the field level family planning activities by the employees concerned of GO and NGO to a greater extent”, they said.They made the comments while addressing a discussion on celebrating World Population Day-2015 jointly organised by Department of Family Planning at the auditorium of Zilla Parishad of the town this noon.Deputy Commissioner (DC) M. Abdus Samad addressed the meeting as the chief guest and acting civil surgeon Dr. Harun or Rashid was present as the special guest while deputy director of Department of Family Planning Dewan Morshed Kamal in the chair.The function was also addressed, among others, by Sadullapur upazila parishad chairman Saidur Rahman, Sadar upazila family planning officer Mabuba Khatun, Gidari union parishad chairman Golam Sadek Lebu, district health manager of Friendship Akmol Hossain, manager of Marie Stopes Maternity Clinic Abu Zafor Khandkar and journalist Sarker M. Shahiduzzaman.The speakers emphasised on collective efforts of government and non-government organizations to control the population growth anyhow and turning them into worthy citizen.BSS from Faridpur adds: The 26the World Population Day-2015 with the theme ‘Vulnerable Population in Emergencies’ was observed here yesterday in a befitting manner. In observance of the day, a colourful rally was brought out in the town in the morning.Family planning workers, NGO people and officials participated in the rally, which paraded the main streets holding placards and festoons depicting the slogans of planned family for better future.The rally was followed by a discussion meeting in the conference room of the deputy commissioner. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Director of Family Planning Dr. Khalilur Rahman while ADC (Gen) Md. Abdur Rshid was the chief guest. Additional Police Super AZM Mostafizur Rahman was the special guest.
