Exchange of BD-China experiences to alleviate poverty proposed

Awami League (AL) Presidium Member Abdul Matin Khasru, MP, who is leading a 20-member delegation of Bangladesh Awami League in China, on Monday proposed exchange of expertise, knowledge and experiences between Bangladesh and China for mutual benefits in alleviating poverty further.
“We (Bangladesh and China) can be mutually benefitted through exchange of our knowledge, experience and expertise in alleviating poverty further,” he said.
Khasru, also the Parliamentary Standing Committee Chairman on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry, said this while addressing a neighborhood party talk titled “Workshop on the governance in China” held at the CPC Zunyi Municipal Committee in China.
Organized by the Party School of CPC Zunyi Municipal Committee, the AL delegation members and the representatives of the Bureau of International Department of IDCPC attended the workshop.
Mrs Lin Hong, a professor of Party School of CPC Zunyi Municipal Commitee, made a power point presentation while Professor Xie Yizuo, Deputy Headmaster of the Party School, also spoke.
Pointing out that Bangladesh is developing fast under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Khasru, also a former Law Minister, said Bangladesh wants to be benefitted through the Chinese experience in reduction of poverty as the world’s second largest economy has reduced poverty over the years to a great extent.
He lauded Chinese President Xi Jinping’s steps towards eliminating poverty in China.
Mentioning that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has introduced micro-savings programmes in Bangladesh to promote the rural people and improve their living standard, the AL presidium member said the government of Sheikh Hasina wants every people to be self-reliant not relying on others.
Highlighting the successes of Bangladesh in different sectors including poverty alleviation over the last 10 years, he especially listed the salient features of “My House My Farm” Project which is changing the lot of the rural people across the country.
Through implementation of such a project, Khasru hoped, Bangladesh would be turned into a hunger-and poverty-free country under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina by 2030.
In her presentation, Lin Hong highlighted the speech of Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered in 2017 where he had listed eight-point measures to eliminate poverty.
These are setting reasonable goals for poverty elimination, increasing input, concentrating all strength to fight poverty, targeted poverty alleviation is the major mission of regional development, giving more support to all sectors to alleviate poverty, motivating the impoverished to eliminate poverty, improving organization and leadership and lastly enhancing supervision of poverty elimination.
Lin said China has now changed its poverty alleviation strategy to targeted poverty alleviation method from development-Oriented poverty alleviation method.
