Some students of Sanskrit Department of Chittagong University yesterday locked the room of Chairperson and examination hall demanding permission to attend the second year final examination.
The department chairperson ,Prof Dr.Saptakana Chowdhury , said ” Seven students of the department were not allowed to take examination due to lower attendance level. They locked Chairperson room and exam hall about for an half an hour on the morning of exam day . It is not possible to take today`s examination as we fail to start the exam on time .the next decision will be taken in the emergency meeting of the academic council.”
According to the university sources, seven students of Sanskrit department under 2014-15 academic session were not allowed to attend second year final examination due to lower attendance levels. Afterward ,they submitted an application with recommendation of CU Proctor allowing them to attend the second year final exam but the academic committee rejected the proctor`s request and did not give permission of taking exam.
On Wednesday ,it was scheduled to be held course number 201 exam. Around 9.30 am ,the students, who were no allowed to attend the exam, locked the Chairperson room and examination hall demanding permission to attend the second year final examination. CU proctorial body opened the lock After one and half an hour.
University Assistant Proctor Liton Mitra said that an assistant proctor went to the students after hearing about the incident and talked to the students. After that, they opened the lock. We are talking to the Chairman about this issue.
