Professor Dr. Zahurul Haque, former Chairman of University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) and also a Retired teacher of the Department of Economics of Dhaka University passed away on Tuesday at Square Hospital in the city. He was 79.
He had been suffering from kidney and liver cirrhosis for a long time.
He left behind wife, one son, two daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
The Namaj-e-Janaja of the Prof Haque was held at Dhaka University
Central Mosque after Zohr prayer.
He was buried at Martyred Intellectuals’ Graveyard in the city’s Mirpur.
Prof Abdul Mannan, Chairman of UGC expressed his deep shock at the demise of Prof Zahurul Haque. He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
