DU Correspondent :
Left-student wing Bangladesh Chhatra Union on Thursday brought out a procession at Dhaka University campus demanding immediate Dhaka University Central Students Union (DUCSU) polls to ensure democratic practice in the campus.
They brought out the procession from University’s Madhu’s Canteen which paraded several streets of the
campus and ended at the DUCSU building.
While speaking, Tuhin Kanti Das, President of Chhatra Union of DU chapter, demanded immediate election to the DUCSU saying that without the election student politics would never be effective and the demands of general students would not be realised.
DUCSU, which is the pioneer of all democratic movements in the past decades, will make an opportunity for the students to represent in the senate, a decision making body of the University, to press home their demands, he added.
Earlier, President Abdul Hamid in his speech at DU Convocation said DUCSU election is a must. He questioned why the authority still did not take any step to hold the much awaited poll.
