Ex MP Syeed, journo Ramjan detained in Jessore

Kotwali police arrested Muhaddis Abu Syeed Md Shahadat Hossain, former lawmaker for Jessore – 2 constituency and Nayebe Amir of Jessore district unit Jammat- e- Islami. He is principal of Padmabila Senior Madrassah.
Confirming the information, Azmal Huda, officer in-charge, Kotwali police station told Newsmen that he was an accused in a case.
Local sources said the former lawmaker was arrested from Rupdia at around 3pm on Tuesday while he was returning home from his workplace.
In the meanwhile, the Kotwali police detained Ramjan Ali, Kuada Correspondent; Jessore based Daily Loksamaj early Tuesday. Bangladesh Nationalist Party standing committee member Tariqul Islam is the owner of the newspaper.
Anwarul Kabir Nantu, acting editor of the newspaper told newsmen that the police picked up the journalist from his residence at around 3 am on Tuesday. ‘Ramjan is a lecturer at Dhakuria College,’ he added.
Kotwali officer Azmal Huda told newsmen that Ramjan is an accused in a case.
