Ex-MP Meraj Mollah passes away

Bir Freedom Fighter Meraj Uddin Mollah, former MP of Rajshahi-3 constituency and current president of Rajshahi district Awami League, has passed away.
He breathed his last at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital in the capital around 9:30 pm on Sunday.
Former general secretary of the district Awami League Asaduzzaman Asad confirmed the matter.
Earlier on Monday, Meraj Uddin Mollah was taken to Dhaka from Rajshahi by MI-171 helicopter of the Air Force on an emergency basis.
He was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) on Friday afternoon.
Meraj Uddin Mollah was infected with coronavirus, however, family sources said that his Covid-19 report came negative in the last test. He was the chairman of Naohata Union Parishad after Independence, twice the chairman of Paba Upazila Parishad and became an MP of Rajshahi-3 (Paba-Mohanpur) constituency in 2008. He was also the Rajshahi District Awami League President.
He is survived by his wife, four sons and a daughter. His death has cast a shadow of mourning in the Rajshahi district.
