Ex-Minister Matiur Rahman’s wife dies

Syeda Asiya Begum, wife of ex-Minister and Ambassador Matiur Rahman, died at the Apollo Hospital in the city on Friday morning. She was 80.
Asiya Begum breathed her last at the hospital at 7.20 am after a long illness.
She left behind her husband Matiur Rahman, the former Communication Minister (1987-1988) of the Ershad government, three sons and five daughters as well as a host of relatives and well wishers to mourn her death.
The body of Asiya Begum has been kept at the Apollo Hospital mortuary as her children are staying abroad.
The Namaz-e-Janaza of Asiya Begum will be held at Azimpur Boro Daira Sharif in the city after Zohr prayers on Monday.
Later, she will be buried at her late father’s family graveyard at Azimpur Boro Daira Sharif (45, Azimpur Road).
