Police arrested a former leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal from his residence in Uposohor area of the city early Monday.
The arrestee was identified as advocate Syed Ahmed, a former president of Sylhet district JCD unit.
Akhter Hossain, officer-in-charge of Shahporan Police Station, said that a team of police raided his residence around 3 am and arrested him in a case filed for assaulting police.
