Ex-IGP AYBI Siddiqui dies

Former IGP of Bangladesh Police and ex-secretary AYBI Siddiqui died of cancer at United Hospital in Dhaka on Saturday night. He was 76.
Md Sohel Rana, AIG (Media and Public Relations) of Bangladesh Police, said, AYBI Siddiqui breathed his last around 1:03 am at the hospital.
Siddiqui joined the police service in 1970 as an ASP. He served as IGP from September 27, 1998 to June 7, 2000. He is survived by wife, a son, a daughter and a host of relatives and admirers.
The first namaz-e-janaza of the deceased was held at 10:30 am at the SI Shiru Mia Auditorium of Rajarbagh Police Lines on Sunday in presence of senior police officials.
Inspector General of Police Dr Benazir Ahmed expressed deep shock over his death.
IGP Benazir Ahmed and Dhaka Metropolitan Police chief Md Shafiqul Islam paid their respects to Siddiqi after the namaz-e-janaza.
After retiring from the police force, he served as a secretary in the Ministry of Water Resources and also served as a secretary in the Ministry of Local Government.
