A former teacher of Dhaka University was burned to death in a fire at Hamurdia village in Shibpur upazila early Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Ataur Rahman, 70, a former teacher of International Relationship Department of
DU. Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge of Shibpur Police Station, said Ataur Rahman sustained burn injuries after his cloth caught fire while he was cooking in the kitchen around 9pm on Friday. Later, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 1am on Saturday.
