Court Correspondent :
A Dhaka court on Wednesday granted bail to five people, including retired Brigadier General Bazle Kader, a former director of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in a graft case filed for embezzlement of Tk 2.31 crore.
Dhaka’s Senior Special Judge Md Jahurul Haque passed the order. Four other accused people are the hospital’s deputy director Mohammad Fayzullah, cashiers Nazrul Islam (1) and Nazrul Islam (2), Habibur Rahman, owner of Habib Traders.
However, the court rejected the bail petitions of former senior lecturer Dr Md Moshiur Rahman and assistant professor Dr Atiar Rahman as both of them fled the courtroom after the court had rejected their bail pleas on August 27.
On November 16, 2011, Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) assistant director Tahsinul Haque filed the case with the city’s Shahbagh Police Station accusing them of embezzling the money. Later, on May 15 this year, ACC submitted the charge sheet of the case. On September 17 this year, the court framed charges against the accused people.
