A court here on Thursday placed former assistant proctor of Chittagong University (CU) Anwar Hossain on a 2-day remand in a case filed over the murder of Bangladesh Chhatra League(BCL) leader Diaz Irfan Chowdhury.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Shiblu Kumar passed the order after police produced Anwar to the court seeking a five-day remand, said
Jasim Uddin, assistant superintendent of Police of Criminal Investigation Department in Chittagong. On Monday last, a court sent Anwar to jail.
On November 20 last year, the body of Diaz, assistant secretary of the central BCL committee and joint secretary of CU unit BCL, was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his bedroom at his family’s rented house in Gate-2 area of Chittagong University. On November 23 of the year, the Forensic Department of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) conducted the 1st postmortem which described the incident as a suicide in its report.
