Ex-BNP leader Tanveer’s son on 5-day remand

Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the DMP arrested Chowdhury Irad Ahmed Siddique yesterday (Thursday) and produced him in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka seeking a seven-day remand.
Magistrate Md Khurshid Alam passed order and put him on a four-day remand after hearing. Inspector Shawkot Ali Sarker Chowdhury produced Irad in the court.
Irad Ahmed, a son of former BNP Standing Committee Member Chowdhury Tanveer Ahmed Siddique, was arrested on Thursday near the Shahjalal International Airport area in the capital in connection with a case lodged under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.
A team of CTTC unit conducted a drive in the area and detained Irad Ahmed, said Masudur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Police DMP (Media unit). Irad Ahmed was wanted in separate cases lodged under the ICT Act on charge of posting derogatory remarks about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on his facebook page, Masudur Rahman added.
