EWU holds discussion on ‘Rule of Law and Democracy’

Democracy and rule of law are complementary to each other. Without democracy, the rule of law is endangered, as well as democracy without the rule of law is worthless. In addition, when there is mutual respect in the democratic environment, the rule of law becomes mature. However, the long practice of democratic environment and the rule of law always beneficial for people. And Bangladesh has no exception of this, opined dignitaries at a discussion on ‘The Rule of Law and Democracy’ at the SM Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery of East West University (EWU) on Sunday.
The chief guest of the program was Abu Saleh Sk Md. Zahirul Haque, Secretary, Law and Justice Division, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. The special guest was Advocate Kazi Nazibullah Hiru, Chairman, Legal Education Committee, Bangladesh Bar Council. The program was chaired by Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson, Board of Trustees, EWU.
Prof Dr Tureen Afroz, Chairperson of Department of Law, EWU gave the welcome remarks. A question and answering session also held on this occasion.
 A large number of participants attended the program.
