EWU celebrates Int’l Women’s Day

East West University (EWU) celebrated International Women’s Day with a colorful program at EWU Campus, Aftabnagar in the city on last Thursday before a day of the 8th March Women’s Day. In addition to a vibrant rally, EWU also arranged for a screening of the film titled “Itihas Konna” by Shamim Akter.
The event was followed by a discussion session. The main theme of the discussion session was ‘Think Equal, Built Smart, Innovate for Change’. The discussion session was attended by among others, Prof Dr Haseena Khan, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Dhaka, Prof Rezwana Choudhury Bannya, famous singer and Chairperson, Department of Dance, University of Dhaka, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Chief Executive, Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association, and Prof Dr Fakrul Alam, Pro Vice-Chancellor of EWU. Prof Dr MM Shahidul Hassan, Vice Chancellor of EWU delivered welcome remarks on the occasion. The program was chaired by Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson, Board of Trustees of EWU and a former governor of the Bangladesh Bank.
In the discussion, they highlighted the progress of women in Bangladesh in the last four and a half decades. While urging all to be vocal about women’s rights until equal participation was guaranteed in all cases. Members of the Board of Trustees of EWU, faculty members, officers and students were present on the occasion.
