The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police has arrested Anju Kapoor in a case over evicting her two step daughters from home at Gulshan in the capital.
Anju Kapoor is the second wife of retired Pilot Mostafa Jaglul Wahid.
Mushfiqa Mustafa, daughter of Mostafa Jaglul Wahid, filed the case against Anju Kapoor with Gulshan Police Station.
In the case statement, she claimed that after the death of her father, Anju Kapoor withdrawn Tk 1.4 crore from City Bank’s Gulshan Branch hiding her father death news.CID’s Special Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khalidul Haque Hawlader confirmed the matter on Tuesday.
He said that Anju Kapur was arrested from Mostafa Jaglul Wahid’s Gulshan house on Tuesday morning. “We will place her before a Dhaka court with a five-day remand prayer for questioning.”
Earlier, the dispute between Anju Kapoor and her step daughters (Mushfiqa and Mobashera) came to light in last October. The two sisters stayed in front of the house built on 10 katha land in Gulshan-2 from morning till night. They complained Anju Kapur was not allowing them to enter their house.
A Bench of the High Court issued a ‘suo moto’ on October 28 last year after the news aired on television channels.
The court directed the OC of Gulshan Police Station to ensure immediate entry into the house of the two sisters. Police arranged the entry to Mushfiqa and Mobashera in the same night following court order. Besides, police were deployed at the house under the direction of the court for the safety of the two sisters.
Anju Kapur’s lawyer Md Wajiullah, who is also friend of Mostafa Jaglul Wahid’s told the media that his friend’s first wife divorced him in 2005. In his presence, Mostafa Jaglul Wahid married Anju Kapoor in 2013 under the Special Marriage Act.
