Evicted hawkers block roads for rehabilitation

The hawkers who were evicted by the City Corporations from the footpaths demonstrated and blocked the roads in the city yesterday demanding rehabilitation.
They organised the programme in front of Jatiya Press Club, chanted slogans and drew the attention of the government to their distress and needs.
Bangladesh Hawkers Union arranged the programme.
The hawkers said, it implies upon the state to feed, cloth, shelter, educate and bear treatment cost of every citizen of the state. As long as, the state cannot do it, eviction is illogical. Besides, the hawkers demanded such a law as guarantees their right to survive.
They demanded proper law and rehabilitation process for the hawkers.
They said, the families of the hawkers depend on their earnings. Now what the dependants will do?
The hawker leaders said, government has introduced various types of facilities for different groups, but there is no room for the hawkers. It is too much pathetic.
In the programme Bangladesh Hawkers Union’s Adviser Monzurul Ahasan Khan, organisation President Abul Hashem Dabir and hawkers from different parts of the city were present.
