Ambassador of European Union Renji Tirink said that the bright future of many sectors including garments industry, fisheries, manpower, agriculture industrial sector is playing an important role in strengthening the economic bases of the country.
Renji Tirink meet in a courtesy call with Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) AJM Nasir Uddin on Wednesday.

Delegation leader Tirink said that the EU is a major development partner in Bangladesh’s education sector.
He said that changes in Bangladesh in the last few decades are noticeable and there has been improved urbanization here. Chittagong is the most beautiful city in Bangladesh. The natural beauty, the environment, the sea-river attract people everywhere.
The leader of the delegation, Tirinka, asked about the challenges and problems of the city. The mayor said, water logging in the rainy season is the biggest problem of the city.
He said that in 1995, a master plan was prepared for the Chittagong city.
According to this plan, it was proposed to deepen and expand the other canals along with the drainage master plan. Chittagong is the most affected by global climate change, natural disaster. Filling the Karnafuli river and increasing the height of the sea has had adverse effects.
Mayor said that the work of renewing a master plan is currently underway. In this plan, he informed the members of the delegation that there will be adequate guidance in Chittagong City for building an international quality port and commercial center.
