The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court upheld the bail of Abdus Salam, the Chairman of Ekushey
Television (ETV), in a pornography case on Thursday.
A four-member bench of the Appellate Division, headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, passed the order.
Earlier, Salam was granted bail by the High Court, but the government filed an appeal petition with the Appellate Division seeking a stay on the High Court order.
After hearing the arguments from both sides the Appellate Division upheld the High Court order.
Barrister Rafiqul Haque appeared for Abdus Salam, while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam stood for the state during the hearing.
However, Salam may not be released, as there are more cases against him.
Detective Branch of Police arrested Abdus Salam on January 5 and later he was shown arrested in a pornography case.
