BGB seizes Tk 65.33cr illegal, smuggled goods in March

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized narcotics, arms and other smuggled goods worth Taka 65,33,07,000 from different parts of the country, including the border areas, in the month of March, 2020.
The seized drugs include 9,33,082 yaba tablets, 40,314 bottles of phensidyl, 9,685 bottles of foreign liquor,469 liters of local liquor, 139 cans of beer, 978 kilograms (kg) ganja, 280 grams heroin, 3,809 injections, 15,252 Senegra tablets and 2,81,413 other tablets, according to a BGB press release.
The seized smuggled items include 4.426kg gold, 58.470 kg silver, 86,128 peaches imitation jewelry, 62,131 cosmetics items, 2,067 sarees, 2,488 girls’ dresses along with shirt pieces and 5,550 ready-made garments.
Besides, seven trucks, three private cars, one pickup, 18 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 87 motorcycles were recovered.
The recovered arms include two pistols, eight other types of weapons, two magazines and 10 rounds of bullets.
Legal actions were taken against 342 smugglers for human trafficking and other illegal activities and 27 other Bangladeshi nationals. Besides, six Indian nationals were nabbed for crossing the border illegally.
