Argentina’s Estudiantes progressed to the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals with a 3-0 home victory over Brazilian side Fortaleza on Thursday.
The result handed Estudiantes a 4-1 win on aggregate following a 1-1 draw in last week’s first leg.
Manuel Castro struck either side of halftime in Thursday’s decisive leg before Franco Zapiola added a third goal just before the hour mark.
Fortaleza were forced to play most of the match with only 10 men after Yago Pikachu was shown a straight red card in the 22nd minute for violent conduct.
Estudiantes will meet Brazil’s Athletico Paranaense in the next phase of South America’s premier club competition. In other quarterfinal ties, Atletico Mineiro will face Palmeiras, Corinthians will confront Flamengo and Velez Sarsfield will meet Talleres Cordoba.
