Erfan, bodyguard again placed on 2-day remand

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday placed lawmaker Haji Salim’s son Mohammad Erfan Salim and his bodyguard Zahidul Mollah on a fresh remand of two days in the case filed over attacking Navy Officer Lieutenant Wasif Ahmed Khan.
Magistrate Md Ziaur Rahman of the CMM Court passed the order after Investigation Officer Mobinul Haque, and also Sub-Inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of police, produced Erfan Salim and Zahid in the court seeking a five-day remand.
The duo were earlier placed on three days’ remand after they were produced before the court with a seven-day remand plea on October 28.
Lieutenant Wasif Ahmed Khan filed the case with Dhanmondi Police Station on October 26, accusing four named and three unnamed people.
Erfan Salim and Zahid were sentenced to one year in prison for illegally possessing walkie-talkies and foreign liquor after their arrest on October 26. Erfan Salim is the sacked councilor of Dhaka South City Corporation’s ward No. 30.
RAB Executive Magistrate Sarwoer Alam sentenced lawmaker’s son Erfan Salim and his bodyguard Zahid to one year’s imprisonment each after illegal guns, ammunitions, foreign liquor, walkie-talkies and handcuffs were found during raid.
