Animal Resources Service Week being observed: Ensuring safe animal protein for common people stressed

Livestock Department of Kishoreganj arranged a discussion, rally , cultural function and Animal Fair marking the Animal Resources Week- 2017.
Animal Fair started at livestock office ground on Saturday. A discussion meeting was held at its office premises on Saturday with District Livestock Officer Dr. Mohamed Ali in the chair. ADC (Gen) Torafder Md. Akhter Jamil attended as chief guest. It was addressed among others by District Veterinary Surgeon Dr. Bahadur Ali, Dr. Saleha Akhter, CAB Secretary Monowar Hossain Rony and Nurul Islam Khan.
A colourful rally was brought out in the town.
BSS from Narsingdi reports: Speakers at a post rally discussion here on Sunday underlined the importance of boosting safe animal protein production as its proper consumption is very important for building a healthy nation.
They were addressing the discussion organized by the Department of Livestock Services (DLS) at local Circuit house conference room here marking the Animal Resources Service Week-2017.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Subhash Chandra Biswas earlier inaugurated the Service week here.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Mahabub Hasan Shahin addressed the discussion as chief guest with District Livestock officer Dr MA Samad Miah in the chair.
Project Director of Livestock Disease Prevention & Control Project Dr. Md Shafiqul Islam and District Fishery Officer Mohammad Tofaz Uddin addressed as special guests
Mahabub Hasan Shahin said there is no alternative to expansion of poultry and Dairy farming to increase animal protein production for freeing the nation from malnutrition. He also called for the importance on adopting modern technology promotion of high yielding varieties and farmers training to attain the goal.
A Mela with 10 stalls of different poultry farm and Pharmaceutical Company was also held on the occasion at the premises of District Livestock Office.
The mela was jointly organized by Upazila Livestock Office of Narsingdi Sadar and Veterinary Hospital of Narsingdi.
BSS from Rangpur adds: Experts at a post-rally discussion here have stressed on further enhancing production in the boosting livestock sector to ensure safe animal protein for the common people to build a healthier nation.
The expressed the view at the discussion arranged by District Department of Livestock Services (DLS) on the daylong Livestock Fair premises at Town Hall auditorium premises on Sunday.
The fair was organised in observance of the Livestock Service Week- 2017 with the theme of “Promise to safe animal protein, for healthy strong genius nation.”
Earlier, a huge rally participated by officials and employees of DLS and other departments, sociocultural and political activists, framers and common people was brought out in the city streets.
Different government departments, entrepreneurs, service providers and
companies set up 18 stalls on the fairground demonstrating latest
technologies on livestock, vaccines, medicines, fodders, poultry, grass cultivation and marketing of the products.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Public
Administration HM Ashikur Rahman, MP, inaugurated the fair by cutting ribbon and releasing balloons and attended the discussion as chief guest. With Deputy Director (Local Government) for Rangpur Sultana Pervin in the chair, Deputy Director of the DLS Agriculturist Mahbubur Rahman, Chairman of Zila Parisahd Advocate Chhafia Khanom, General Secretary of city Awami League Tushar Kanti Mandal, addressed the discussion as special guests. In his welcome speech, Agriculturist Mahbubur Rahman said the nation
already achieved tremendous success in the animal husbandry, poultry and fishery sectors substantially increasing production of protein to meet nutritional demand of the population.
“After achieving self-reliance on rice production, the present
government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has put due emphasis on
meeting nutritional demand of the population by increasing production of meat, fish, milk and eggs, he said.
He also narrated the massive steps taken by the present government to
further increase production of meat, milk, egg and fish in the country to completely meet protein demanded of the common people within the shortest possible time.
The chief guest highly lauded the tremendous success already achieved in the expanding livestock sector brining a silent revolution to accelerate socioeconomic uplift of the farmers and common people living in rural areas in recent years.
He stressed on coordinated efforts of all concerned to further enhance
production in the livestock sector for meeting protein demand of the growing population in building a middle income healthier nation by 2021 and developed country by 2041.
