Speakers at a roundtable on Saturday said quality assurance culture in the higher education is the prime need for preparing graduates for the professional life.
They also emphasised on equipping the graduates with updated knowledge and skills to face the challenges of 21st century.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) arranged the roundtable at its auditorium in the capital, said a press release. “Quality higher education is key to enabling graduates for becoming leaders in own field of expertise,” said a visiting Australian Monash University Professor Dr Sivanes Philipson.
She also made a presentation on ‘Quality Assurance in Higher Education: An Australian Perspective’ at the function, presided over by UGC chairman (In-charge) Prof Dr Mohammad Mohabbat Khan.
UGC member Prof Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Head of Quality Assurance Unit of UGC Prof Mesbahuddin Ahmed, UGC Secretary Dr Md. Khaled and senior academicians from public and private universities were present.
Prof Mohabbat said UGC is working to establish institutional quality assurance cell (IQAC) in public and private universities for enhancing the quality of higher education.
