A seminar on ‘the Electoral Violence, Administration and Management’ was held at the seminar room of Public Administration department on Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus on Monday.
JU Public Administration department organized the seminar in collaboration with Election Working Group (EWG) of Asia Foundation while founder chairman of the department also member of Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) Prof Dr. M Abul Kashem Mozumder addressed the programme as the chief guest.
The Director of EWG Dr. Md. Abdul Alim and the chairman of JU Public Administration department also Associate Professor of the department Muhammad Sayadur Rahman presented key notes on the topic.
The speakers here said that there is no need for caretaker government in Bangladesh to hold a free, fair and fearless election if there exists a politically and financially independent Election Commission.
‘The reason behind the violence during the election is the competition of power to capture the political power’, they added.
They also stressed on the need for ensuring participative election for holding the credible election in Bangladesh where all party would take part in the election without any discrimination.
Presided over by the chairman of JU Public Administration department Associate Professor Muhammad Sayadur Rahman, Lecturer Mst. Sahiba Mahbub conducted over the seminar.
Assistant Professor of the department Muhammad Muinul Islam, Muhammad Ashraful Haque, Jebunnessa, Halima Haque, Farhana Afroze, Lecturer Nusrat Jahan Arefin, Moniruddin Shikder, Ahsan Abdullah, Mahfujur Rahman and more than 50 students of the department were take part at the seminar among others.
