Discussants at a distribution ceremony here have called for mainstreaming and flourishing talents of the people with disabilities through ensuring their human rights, social dignity and honour.
They were addressing a wheel chair distribution ceremony arranged by Village People’s Organisation (VPO) with assistance of Gaibandha-based NGO “Karmir Hat” on Balarhat union parishad premises under Mithapukur upazila on Saturday. Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Mithapukur upazila Mamun-Ur- Rashid attended the ceremony as the chief guest and distributed wheel chairs among 80 physically challenged people including men, women and children of the area.
With VPO President Sanoar Hossain in the chair, Balarhat union chairman Abu Tayeb Mandal, officials of VPO Golam Rabbani and Shahjahan Mian addressed the ceremony as special guests. After receiving from the Free Wheel Chair Mission of the USA, non-governmental organisation “Karmir Hat” provided the wheel chairs to VPO for distribution among the people with disabilities of Mithapukur upazila. Beginning from 2006, ‘Karmir Hat’ have already distributed thousands of wheel chairs donated by the Free Wheel Chair Mission among the physically disabled people in 44 districts throughout the country till date.
