Ensuring flawless security measures during Durga Puja stressed

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Benazir Ahmed on Monday asked the field level law enforcers to ensure flawless security measures during the Sharadiya Durga Puja celebration across the country.
He expressed his hope that the Durga Puja, main religious festival of the Hindu community, will be celebrated peacefully with collective efforts of all.
“Communal harmony is intertwined with entity of the country’s people, so police should have taken three tier security measures to celebrate Puja peacefully,” he made these remarks at a meeting on the occasion of the Durga Puja at the Police Headquarters.
Benazir urged the community police and beat police to coordinate with concerned Puja committees to engage in Puja security.
The leaders of Hindu community expressed their satisfaction over the adequate security measures taken by the police chief like every year and thanked the IGP.
“We have taken three tiers of security measures at the pre-puja, during puja and the post-puja celebration,” the IGP said, reports BSS.
He said necessary CCTV cameras in all Puja mandaps will be installed, while handheld metal detectors and archway gates will also be set up in this regard.
“Necessary volunteers will be engaged fulltime in puja mandaps, separate entry and exit routes for men and women, adequate lighting in puja mandaps and emersion, standby generator/charger lights will have to be arranged, he said.
Dr Benazir urged all the puja committees to avoid loudspeaker during the Azaan and prayers.
He also urged to call the National Emergency Service-999 in case of emergency.
Additional IGP (Crime and Operations) M Khurshid Hossain, Head of Special Branch (Additional IG) Md Monirul Islam, President of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parisad J L Bhowmik and General Secretary Prof Dr Chandranath Poddar, Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee President Monindra Kumar Nath and General Secretary Ramen Mondal, Swami Kalpeshananda Maharaj of Sri Ramakrishna Math and Mission and senior police officers were present.
It is mentioned that this year Durga Puja will be celebrated in around 32 thousand 168 Mandaps across the country.
