An engineer was killed on the spot and 3 others were seriously injured when a private car collided head on with a truck on Khulna-Mongla Highway near at Gunai Bridge under Rampal Upazila in Bagerhat district on Thursday according to a report received here.
It is learnt from the police of Rampal PS and some eye-witnesses that the private car was going towards Mongla and when it reached the place of occurrence at 5 am it collided head on with the truck that was coming from the opposite direction. As a result, one boarder of the car was killed on the spot and 3 others were injured seriously. The deceased was identified as Md. Mokarram Hossain (35), a Buet engineer. They all hail from Faridpur district. They were going to Shelabunia village within Burirdanga Union Parishad under Mongla Upazila in Bagerhat district to supervise the ongoing construction work of a school cum cyclone shelter. The dead body was sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital by the police for its autopsy while the injured persons were admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital for their treatment. In this connection a case was registered with Katakhali Highway PS under Fakirhat Upazila in the district.
