Embarrassing defeat for Bangladesh against SA in second Test

Bangladesh tasted an another embarrassing defeat in their Test campaign in South Africa as the tourists tasted a massive 332-run defeat on the fourth day of the second Test at Saint George’s Park in Port Elizabeth on Monday.
By virtue of yesterday’s victory, South Africa (SA) clinched the two-Test series 2-0.
Earlier, the Proteas registered an easy 220-run victory over the touring side in the first Test at Kingsmead in Durban on April 4.
Electing to bat first, South Africa piled up a huge 453 runs in their first innings on the second day (Saturday).
In reply, Bangladesh scored 217 runs in their
first innings on the third day (Sunday).
Later, South Africa declared their second innings making 176 for the loss of six wickets and set a target of 413 runs to win for Bangladesh.
Bangladesh were all out for a paltry 80 runs in their second innings on the fourth day (Monday). Bangladesh batters failed to build any notable partnership and failed to make a respectable score. Besides, the batters failed to show Test temperament. Thus, they paid heavily. Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam restored some parity for his country claiming altogether nine wickets giving 202 runs.
Bangladesh resumed their second innings with the over-night score of 27 for the loss of three wickets.
Mushfiqur Rahim (1) was caught at the first slip by Dean Elgar off Keshav Maharaj when Bangladesh’s score was 33 for the loss of four wickets.
Mominul Haque resumed his second innings with the over-night score of five runs but he could not add any run in his account on the fourth day as he was caught at the square leg by Ryan Rickelton off Keshav Maharaj when the visitors’ total was 38 for the loss of five wickets.
After Mominul’s departure, Yasir Ali (0) was caught at the deep mid-wicket by Lizaad Williams off Simon Harmer when the tourists’ score was 44 for the loss of six wickets.
Fourth-down Liton Das (27) was stumped out by wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne off Keshav Maharaj when the touring side’s total was 69 for the loss of seven wickets.
Number-8 batter Mehidy Hasan Miraz (20) was caught behind by Verreynne off Maharaj when Bangladesh’s score was 80 for the loss of eight wickets.
Eighth-down Khaled Ahmed (0) was trapped leg before wicket by Maharaj when the touring side’s total was 80 for the loss of nine wickets.
Number-9 batter Taijul Islam (0) was trapped leg before wicket by Harmer when Bangladesh’s innings came to an end.
Maharaj captured seven wickets in the space of 40 runs, while Harmer grabbed three wickets at the cost 34 runs.
Earlier, Maharaj bagged two wickets instead of 57 runs. Maharaj was adjudged the Man of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance. Maharaj was also adjudged the Player of the Series for his consistent bowling display.
