Embargo on medicare services to female students of CU

The administration of Chittagong University has imposed embargo on providing Medicare services to female students after dusk, aiming to improve security measure. The decision came after an on-duty doctor was forcibly gone on vacation after an allegation was raised against him. Notably, a female student was allegedly sexually abused by Dr. Mostafa Kamal while going for taking treatment.
A fresh schedule was issued yesterday, signed by acting registrar Professor DrKamrul Huda, notifying that the on-duty doctors wouldn’t provide Medicare-services to the female students after 6.00 pm. However, the condition would be relaxed in a special situation, saying if the students need emergency treatment they must have the provost’s permission and must accompany by the house tutors of the respective halls. Mohammad Abu Tayeb, chief medical officer of CU medical center said, the decision came with the directives of CU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury. He also said, the female students would be able to take treatment even after 6.00 pm but they have to bring their house tutor.
Mentionable, a female student was allegedly sexually abused by Dr. Mostafa Kamal at evening, on March 10. After the incident the general students went on massive protest, demanding stringent punishment of the ‘culprits’. Following their peaceful protest, the agitating students on Sunday, issued a 48-hour ultimatum for bringing the alleged Doctor to book.
The agitating students issued the ultimatum in a press conference, held at Arts bhaban included shanty. In the press conference they alleged that the investigation body failed to submit their findings even six days gone against Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury framed two days to submit initial findings.
They would put a series of protest program including class abstention and all-out strike if Mostafa Kamal is not sacked and the complete investigation report isn’t published by two days, they threatened. Mahbuba Jahan Rumi, education and research secretary of Chhatra Union and also a residential student of Pritilata Hall said, we condemned the authority’s decision, adding such a worst decision can never be taken.
She also raised question that what the female students should do in an emergence situation while the residential teachers aren’t found at the evening or night. Besides, many female students alleged that no house tutor is residing in the dormitories, so how they reach them in emergence situation. They also demanded the withdrawal of the decision and boosting the security measure in medical.
