Former Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Dhaka University, Dr Emazuddin Ahmed speaking as chief guest at a discussion meeting titled,’ Ongoing Political Crisis and its Solution’ organized by ‘civil society’ at Supreme Court Bar Association premises presided over by Khondokar Mahbub Hossain on Wednesday has proposed for a national government to overcome the ongoing political crisis.
He said, the main responsibility of this government should be to organize an election with the participation of all parties. “Trustworthy and fair election can resolve the prevailing crisis facing the country,” said the pro-BNP intellectual. A group of pro-BNP intellectuals organized the programme.
Professor Emazuddin accused the BNP leaders for failing to organize the people in the blockade programme. He said, Bangladesh is moving towards a terrible situation and slowly we are heading towards a situation as prevails in Afghanistan and Iraq. “We need a solution,” he said. Political analyst Forhad Mazahar says that crisis cannot be overcome by election alone. Thousands of people gathered at the funeral programme of Arafat Rahman Koko, younger son of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. Politics had no relation with the funeral. “The people used this funeral ceremony as a platform to voice their silent protest against the illogical policies pursued by the government,” said Forhad Mazhar.
