Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam on Tuesday urged all concerned to eliminate all kinds of elements creating waterlogging in the city.
“I love the city. We all love the city. We need to work together to build a habitable city for all. We should eliminate every reason of waterlogging honestly,” the Mayor said it while talking to journalists during his day-long visits in different areas of the city.
The Mayor visited waterlogging prone areas
like the Shayesta Khan Avenue and Kosaibari in Uttara, Ashkona, in front of Maasranga Television at Banani, Shuti Khal and Uttar Badda.
Atiqul Islam found illegal installations on drains at Kosaibari and gave ultimatums to remove those within two days.
The Mayor found waste throwing into drains in different areas and expressed his dissatisfaction at the waste management system of the Corporation. He asked employees of the city to do their duties honestly.
The Mayor ordered the officials to clear Shuti Khal of grabbers immediately so that the city residents get rid of waterlogging in the upcoming rainy season.
Besides, he asked the people to be refrained from throwing garbage into drains.
