The election of Dhaka Sangbadik Paribar Bahumukhi Samobaya Samity, a welfare organization of Dhaka Union of Journaists (DUJ), was held at DUJ office on Tuesday last.
Three-member election commission headed by former DUJ president Omar Faruque conducted the election. Other members of the commission are Dhaka Reporters’ Unity President Shahed Chowdhury and former DUJ joint secretary Johorlal Chandra Das. Senior journalist of The Daily Sun Tarun Tapan Chakrborty was elected president of the Samity in the triennial election while Khandaker Ataul Huq, editor of Daily Alor Michhil, and freelance journalist Rajendra Dev Mantu were elected secretary and treasurer respectively.
Besides, the uncontested office-bearers of the samity are Auhiduzzaman Miah-vice president, a senior journalist of BSS, Rafique Ahmed-joint secretary, a senior journalist of Amader Aurthanity and publicity secretary of DUJ, directors- Sanat Nandi of Daily Khabar, M Zahirul Islam of Bangladesh Protidin, M Kamal Uddin of Kalerkantha, M Rafiqul Islam of Desh Bangla, Golam Nabi of weekly Robbar and Enamul Huq Babul of BSS.
All the founder members of the Samity including former DUJ president Shah Alamgir were present during the voting and cast their votes.
