An elaborate programme has been chalked out in connection with the observance of the ensuing victory day across the district on December 16 in a meeting held yesterday at the conference of Deputy Commissioner chaired by DC Umme Salma Tanzia.
The programme of the day will begin with 31 gun-salutes to be held at local police line. It will be followed by hoisting of national flag atop all public and private buildings.
Floral wreaths will be placed at the martyred memorial altar located at Goalchamat area of the town followed by a victory procession which will parade the main through fares and will end up at the stadium. The program includes offering special prayers at the mass grave of the liberation war martyrs located on the southern side of the stadium.
Formal rally and parade of victory day participated by Police, Ansars, VDP and students of different institutions will be held at Sheikh Jamal stadium followed by a reception arranged in honor of the families of the martyred and alive war heroes of this district.
Special prayers for the peace and prosperity of the country will be held at the mosques, temples and churches. In the prayer special emphasis will be given to root out terrorism and militancy from the society.
A discussion meeting on the mass application of digital technology in all spheres of daily life for the progress of the country will be held in the evening at local Kabi Jasimuddin hall followed by a cultural function.
Information office will arrange documentary film show on liberation war at local Ambica memorial ground.
Faridpur Shishu academy will arrange competitions of recitations and essay among the children centering the war of liberation.
Similar programme will be held at the upazilla headquarters of the district.
A number of sub-committees have been formed to make the program success.
