Elaborate programmes to observe Bangabandhu’s birth anniversary today in dists

The 94th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day will be observed in Faridpur today in a befitting manner as elsewhere across the country.
The program was chalked out in a meeting held here Sunday with DC of the district Abu Hena Morshed Zaman in the chair.
The two-day observance program chalked out by the local district administration will begin on March 15 through displaying mobile cinema show titled ‘Chiranjib'(Immortal) Bangabandhu at various points of the town and also in upazillas. On March 16 recitations of poems on Bangabandhu, art and patriotic song competitions for children will be held at Shishu Academy here.
In the morning, on March 17, local district administration, political parties, Awami League and its front organizations and various socio-cultural organizations will place floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu kept on local Ambica Maidan.
A centrally arranged Milad Mahfil will be held at Shah Farid Dargah mosque and special prayers will be offered at mosques, temples, Ramkrishna Mission and churches. A voluntary blood donation camp has been organized at Ambica Memorial Hall.
BSS from Rangpur adds: The 94th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children Day-2014 will be observed in Rangpur tomorrow (Monday) through daylong elaborate programmes.
The district administration, Awami League (AL) and its front organisations, Bangladesh Shishu Academy, District Information Office, Islamic Foundation Bangladesh, different socio-cultural and professional organisations have chalked out programmes to observe the day.
The programmes include placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, children rally, processions of unprivileged children, drawing, essay, ‘Eso Bangabandhu Hoi’ and ready speech competitions, discussions, cultural functions and screening of documentary films.
Special doa mahfils and prayers will be offered at the mosques, mandirs, churches, pagodas and other places of worships and improved diets will be served to the unprivileged children.
Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Dilwar Bakht will begin observance of the Day in the morning through placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Central Shaheed Minar in presence of senior government officials.
The Divisional Commissioner will attend the main discussion as the chief guest at Town Hall auditorium at noon with Deputy Commissioner Farid Ahammad in the chair.
Deputy Inspector General of Rangpur Range Humayun Kabir, Police Super Abdur Razzaque, Acting President of district Awami League (AL) Mamtaz Uddin Ahammed, its General Secretary (GS) Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju, city unit AL President Shafiar Rahman Shafi and its GS Tushar Kanti Mandal will address as special guests.
Valiant freedom fighters, academicians, historians, researchers, teachers, officials, and heads of different educational institutions, leaders of different political parties, socio-cultural and political activists, artists and professionals will be present.
Besides, wreaths will be placed at the portrait of
Bangabandhu and discussions be organised at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur Medical College, Carmichael College and other educational institutions in the city in observance of the Day.
