Eight players won their 1st round games and earned full point in the Begum Laila Alam 8th International Rating Open Chess tournament that began on Saturday at the Bangladesh Chess Federation hall room.
They are WFM Sharmin Sultana Shirin, WIM Rani Hamid, WFM Zakia Sultana, Protiva Talukder, Jahanara Haque, Farjana Hossain Annie, Senjida Sakib and Kazi Apurba.
Earlier, member of the Standing Committee on Primary and Mass Education Ministry Advocate Ummey Razia Kazol formally inaugurated the event as the chief guest.
The event is being held in 5 round Swiss-League system and a total of 18 players are participating in the event.
