Police in separate drives arrested eight suspected muggers from Agargaon and Tejgaon in the city on early Friday and Thursday night.
Tipped off that a gang of bandits were taking preparation to commit robbery in the city, a team of Sher-E-Bangla Nagar Police Station conducted a drive at West Agargaon around 2:45 am and arrested the four robbers along with two machetes and two iron rods. The arrestees were identified as Mujaffar, 20, Shwadhin, 20, Ariful Islam Chayan, 20, and Masud, 25. A case was filed in this connection.
Earlier on Thursday night, a team of Tejgaon Police Station arrested four alleged muggers along with four knives from in front of an under-construction building near Sonargaon crossing around 9:15 pm, said deputy commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Masudur Rahman. The arrestees are-Rubel Mia, Azharul Islam, Md Rana and Md Manzu. A case was filed with Tejgaon Police Station in connection with the incident.
