Eight Jamaat men arrested in Barishal

Police arrested eight leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from C&B Road area of the City early Tuesday.
Nurul Islam, officer in charge of Barishal Kotwali police station, confirmed the report on Tuesday afternoon.
They were assembled to join a conspiracy meeting at the residence of Shah Alam, amir, Barishal district (East) to foil upcoming JS polls, said Nurul Islam Officer in Charge of Kotwali Police Station.
The arrestees were identified as Md. Shah Alam, 63, Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Barishal district (east) unit and others were Md. Firoj Alam Mamun,55, Mozzamel Haque, 50, Saidur Rahman , 65, Humayun Kabir Hawladar, 51, Rahman Akon,25, and Azizur Sarkar , 41, activists of JL district and city units.
They took part in a secret meeting and were engaged in conspiracy to foil upcoming JS poll, claimed Sub inspector Saidul Islam, complainant officer of the case lodged in this connection with Kotwali Police Station.
The arrestees sent to jail after produced before the Barishal court on Tuesday afternoon, police sources added.
