Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Sunday handed over nine new buses of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) to eight educational institutions.
The minister did it in a function held at BRTC depot in Kamalapur, Dhaka.
While addressing the programme, the minister said that the buses were given to the institutions as per pledge given by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
At the same time he urged the institutions’ administrations and the
students to use the vehicles properly.
The educational institutions are: Eden Mohila College in Dhaka, Government Titumir College in Dhaka, Kumudini Government College in Tangail, Shamsul Haque Khan School and College in Dhaka, Khulna Government Women College, Bandarban Government College, Bandarban Government Women’s College and Maulana Bhasani Science and Technology University in Tangail.
Of the institutions, Maulana Bhasani Science and Technology University only gots two buses.
All these nine double-decker buses have been included in the corporation fleet recently under the Indian Line of Credit.
The minister added that they were trying to check irregularities in BRTC. So far, a total of 51 BRTC buses have been handed over to 32 educational institutions across the country.
