Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated amid enthusiasms

The he holy Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated in the port city as elsewhere in the district amid tight security measures and with huge enthusiasm, festivity and solemnity on Monday.
The district, Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) and district police administrations adopted comprehensive security measures for holding the Eid jamats peacefully in the port city as well as everywhere in the district by deploying sufficient RAB, police and Ansar at various strategic points.
The national flag was hoisted atop all government and private buildings and major mosques, eidgahs, streets and buildings were illuminated and decorated with colourful flags, banners, miniatures and festoons.
Improved diets were served to the inmates of different hospitals, Chittagong Central Jail, shishu paribars, orphanages and vagabond welfare centres on the Eid day.
A total of 254 Eid congregations (jamaata) including three big ones at MA Aziz Stadium and Jamiatul Falah Mosque, were held under the auspices of Chittagong Central Eid Jamaat Committee (CCEJC) and Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) respectively in 41 wards of CCC.
Of the biggest three congregations, one was held at M.A. Aziz Stadium at 8.30 a.m. and the rest two at Jamiatul Falah Mosque at 8 a.m. and 8.30.
At least two lakh devotees participated in the Eid jamaats of three main eid-jammats and prayed for divine blessing for peace, prosperity and stability of the country as well as the Muslim Ummah.
Other major Eid congregations were held at Andarkilla Shahi Jame Mosque, Laldhighi Maidan, Parade Maidan, Masjeed-e-Baitus Sharf at Kadamtali, Pologround Railway Public High School Maidan, Shah Amanat Shah (RA)Dargah Maidan, Metropolitan Police Line Maidan, Agrabad Jamboree Field, Baizeed Bostami (Rh) Dargah Mosque, in between 8 a.m. to 8.30 a.m.
The musollis offered special munajats at all Eid congregations seeking divine blessings for eternal peace of departed souls of their near and dear ones and continuous peace, progress and prosperity of the country, its people and the Muslim Ummah as a whole.
Soon after offering the EId prayers, the people were seen exchanging greetings and embracing each other in the spirit of brotherhood, love and equality.
Minister for Expatriates Welfare Nurul Islam, B.Sc., City Mayor A Z M Nasir Uddin, president of Chittagong City Awami League Alhaj A B M Mohiuddin Chowdhury, former ministers Abdullah Al Noman, Amir Kasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin and Jafrul Islam Chowdhury, Awami League (AL) Central Organizing Secretary Barrister Chowdhury Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, AL leader Moslem Uddin Ahmed, BNP city unite president Dr Shahdat Hossain and former Jatiya Party city president Solyman Alam Shet offered their Eid prayers at Jamiatulfalah Mosque.
Since the Eid day, hundreds of people of all ages have been thronging the parks, Chittagong Zoo, Foy’s Lake, Swdinatha Park, Patenga Sea Beach and Parky Sea Beach and other places for entertainment in the city and district maintaining the festive Eid mood till today.
According to reports reaching here from 14 upazilas of the district, the people in the rural areas were also celebrating their Eid festival with huge zeal and enthusiasm.
