The nation is going to celebrate the Eid-ul-Azha with great religious fervour and enthusiasm tomorrow (Saturday) to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).
The main Eid congregation will be held at the National Eidgah in the capital at 8:00am on Saturday.
Besides, Eid congregations will be held in different mosques, ‘Eidgahs,’ and open places in all metropolitan cities, towns, and villages across the country.
After the Eid prayers, special munajat will be offered seeking divine blessings for peace, progress and prosperity of the country and welfare of the Muslim
Ummah.
The faithful will slaughter their sacrificial animals in the name of Almighty Allah.
The government has taken elaborate security arrangements across the country to ward off any untoward incidents.
The security measures have been taken two days before Eid, which will remain effective until the capital returns to normalcy after the Eid festival.
The law enforcers also planned special security measures for the Eidgahs in the divisional cities of Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet, Barisal, Khulna, Rajshahi and Rangpur.
The entire country has been brought under stringent security blankets with the deployment of Rapid Action Battalion and police in the capital and elsewhere for peaceful and smooth celebration of Eid.
“We have taken all possible measures to ensure security for peaceful celebration of the Eid,” Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Hoque told journalists on Thursday.
The Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated on the 10th of Zilhajj month of the Hizri calendar as Hazrat Ibrahim (AS), on this day, some 4,500 years ago, offered to sacrifice his beloved son Hazrat Ismail (AS) who willingly submitted to the will of his father to please Allah.
But the Almighty in His benign mercy spared Hazrat Ismail (AS) and instead sent a ram to be sacrificed.
To commemorate this historic event, the Muslims all over the world slaughter sacrificial animals and draw inspiration from the unique example of sacrifice to please Allah as shown by two great prophets — Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismail (AS).
President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Begum Rawshan Ershad on Thursday greeted the countrymen and the Muslim community across the world on the eve of holy Eid-ul-Azha.
State-run Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar and other TV channels and radio stations would broadcast special programmes on the significance of the occasion.
On the day, improved diets will be served to inmates of government hospitals, prisons, orphanages, safe homes and shelter centers.
Senior Pesh Imam of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Mawlana Muhammad Mizanur Rahman will lead the main Eid congregation at the National Eidgah.
A total of five Eid congregations will be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque – the first one will be held at 7:00am, second at 8:00am, third at 9:00am, fourth at 10:00am and the last one at 10.45am.
Eid congregation will also be held at the south plaza of the Sangsad Bhaban at 7.30am.
Two Eid congregations will be held at the Dhaka University central mosque – the first one at 8:00am and the second at 9:00am.
Apart from this, two separate Eid congregations will be held in the fields adjacent to Salimullah Muslim Hall main gate and Shahidullah Hall of Dhaka University at 8:00am.
