Eid sparks tourism business in Sylhet

Holidaymakers have visited Sylhet during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays as about 60-70 per cent hotels have already been booked by them before Eid .
According to the hotel authorities, 60-70 per cent of rooms of many hotels have been booked. Many of them have booked their rooms online while others did it over the phone. However, many visitors may not get rooms on spot registration, they added.
People involved with the tourism sector in Sylhet division that about 0.6 million (6 lakh) visitors made their trips in this region during the Eid vacation. After a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, the tourism sector would see rebound in business during the vacation, they hope.
The pandemic had hit the total sector badly.
With a remarkable reversed situation, things would be totally different this time. It would help them recoup the huge loss incurred during the last two years.
ATM Shoeb, president of Hotel & Guesthouse Owners Group, Sylhet, said, “The hoteliers expect business will boom this year after two years of suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic.”
All tourist spots witnessed a good turnover this time.
According to industry sources, there are over a hundred attractive sites of tourist interests in the region.
Rush at entertainment centers in Savar
Savar Correspondent adds: During the Eid holidays, crowds have gathered at entertainment centers across the country, including the capital. Although the crowd has been gathering since the day of Eid, more festive atmosphere has been seen in the places till Saturday. Especially in various amusement centers including Fantasy Kingdom, Heritage Park, National Memorial, Aladdin Park, Nandan Park in Ashulia, Savar.
These amusement parks have been chosen as a place to spend some time with friends and family during the Eid holidays. The little ones are happy to go to the amusement park with their families. They are riding their favorite ride. Parents are rejoicing in children’s happiness. The park authorities have given free access to orphans and detainees.
Fatema Yasmin Milli, an American expatriate, came to Bangladesh with her son Zayed Momit to celebrate Eid. She said, “The roads in the capital are mostly empty on Eid. That is why I have brought my family to the Fantasy Kingdom of Ashulia to enjoy Eid. Here we rode the roller coaster, magic carpet, tube spice ride with interesting water kingdom, heritage corner. I am also having a great time with my family. “
Md. Talash Mahmood (Liton), Owner of Prime Motors, has brought his wife, children and uncle Abdul Jabbar Dafadar to enjoy Eid at Theme Park Fantasy Kingdom. He said he came from Shahjahanpur. He hasn’t been able to go anywhere for Eid for the last two years because of Corona, so he came here this time. This is his first visit to Fantasy Kingdom. He enjoyed a lot with different rides, including poker train, family pool, paddle boat, bumper cart. “
Manjurul Islam, Managing Director of Fantasy Kingdom, said people have not been able to leave their homes due to Corona in the last few years. This time they can get out. Many people have come to the park to enjoy Eid. So compared to the last two years, Eid is much happier this time.
