UNB, Dhaka :
Eid holidaymakers have to endure huge sufferings on their way home for the failure of three ministers concerned, said BNP senior leader Shamsuzzaman Dudu on Saturday. “Obaidul Quader (Road Transport and Bridges Minister) had said there would be no sufferings of people and the roads would remain free from tailbacks. I want to tell him
you’re responsible for people’s sufferings and road crashes as you misguided the nation with false information about the roads and highways,” he told a discussion.
Youth Forum, a pro-BNP platform, arranged the programme at the Jatiya Press Club, marking BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s 9th ‘jail release’ day.
He also came down hard on Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan for people’ s sufferings on waterways and different ferry ghats. “The Shipping Minister can only hurl invectives at Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia, but he has no capacity to restore discipline at launch and ferry ghats.”
Dudu, a BNP vice chairman, criticised Railway Minister Mujibul Haque for his failure to ensure a safe and smooth journey of holidaymakers.
“Did you (Railways Minister) see pictures in newspapers and footages of televisions about sufferings of train passengers?”
According to media reports, holidaymakers had to go through torturous journeys due to serious tailbacks on highways and mismanagement at ferry ghats as the eid vacation began on Friday.
The BNP leader said the government is least bothered about public sufferings as it is buy protecting the interests of its own party foreign countries. He said the country’s all sectors will get ruined if the current regime stays in power further. Dudu also urged people to get united for launching a movement to force the government for arranging an accepted and fair election to establish a pro-people administration.
