UNB, Dhaka :
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday stressed spreading the light and opportunities of education to create a patriotic, educated and skilled new generation as well as talented leaders with deep social values to materialise the golden dream of the nation.
The Prime Minister was distributing awards and certificates of the ‘Creative Talent Hunt Competition-2014’ among the winning talented students at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the city.
The Education Ministry organised the competition for the second time in the country aimed at flourishing the dormant talents of the country’s children and youths.
The Prime Minister mentioned that it is the educated talented generation who can take the nation to the desired goal of establishing a dignified, rich and developed Bangladesh.
In this regard, she said that her government has been working relentlessly to free the country from poverty and hunger by creating an educated new generation.
Besides, Hasina said, the government has been trying to remove differences between rural and urban students, and the talent hunt competition is part of the efforts to this end.
It is the children and young generation of the present time who possessed all the future potentials and strength to advance the country, she added.
Terming the country’s children the most talented ones in the world, the Prime Minister requested the policymakers, guardians and teachers to be attentive so that the children get proper facilities to flourish their talents.
“Education is the only means to transform our population into manpower. Opportunities have been created to flourish the talents of students through introducing creative question system.”
Putting emphasis on providing opportunities of moral and human education alongside academic activities of the children, she said students need to be involved in sports and games, reading of books and in cultural activities to explore their latent talents.
Referring to the biggest achievement of the nation – the independence of the country, Hasina said the new generation must learn the real history of the great war of liberation.
She underscored the need for learning the real history of the great War of Liberation and said that distorted history creates a distorted nation while the knowledge of real history shows the right path of development.
The Prime Minister said: “Whenever Awami League came to power, it worked for advancement of the country and to groom a new talented generation.”
She mentioned that her government has huge success in the education sector and said the National Education Policy 2010 was framed to create inspiration in thinking, works and practical life of the students through establishing moral, human, cultural and social values in their personal and national life.
