The very essential item edible oil’s price has hiked again denying the commerce minister request.
After visiting the market it was observed that extra value added edible oil bottle available in the market. Loose and palm oil are also being sold at increase rate.
Traders said, bottle soya bean oil’s price has increased by Tk 5 to 8 per litter while loose and palm oil by Tk 10 per litter.
According to the traders, the price (written on the level) of the newly arrived bottle has been fixed at Tk 165 to 168, which was earlier Tk 160. The price of a five-liter bottle of soybean oil has been Tk 785 to Tk 700, companied with Tk 760.
On the other hand, one kg loose soybean oil is now being sold by retailers at Tk 155 to Tk 160; Tk 150 to Tk 155 was earlier. Palm oil is being sold at Tk 135 to Tk 140 per kg, which was Tk 130 to Tk 135 earlier.  
After a meeting with oil businessmen on January 19, commerce minister said edible oil prices would not go up in the coming 15 days.
At the weekend on Friday, the price of broiler chicken has fallen in the capital’s kitchen markets by Tk 10 per kilo whereas Sonali chicken (popularly known as Pakistani Cock) deceased by Tk 20 per kilo.
The other essentials items such as vegetables, egg fish, onion and potato’s price remain stable in the market.
It was seen in capital kitchen market, The broiler chicken is being sold at Tk 160 to Tk 165 as one week earlier it was at Tk 170-175 whereas Sonali chickens were

selling at Tk 240-260 whereas a week ago it was Tk 240-280. Layer chicken price, however, remained stable with Tk 220-230 per kilo..
On the other hand, the price of egg remain stable as being sold at Tk 110-115 per dozen.
Capital’s Rampura kitchen market chicken trader Md Salam Sheikh said that the price of broiler chicken is at down trend and within one month the price decrease by Tk 40 and in future it will decrease more.
He said, demand for broiler chickens is decreasing and therefore price has fallen. As a result there is no shortage of chicken in the market.

One piece of bottle gourd was selling at Tk 40 at Karwan Bazar, while the same size was selling at Tk 60 to Tk 65 at Gulshan and Hatirpool markets. Cauliflower, broccoli and cabbages were selling at Tk 40 to Tk 50 per piece based on its size and quality.
Good quality bean was selling at Tk 60 per kg, while long bean at Tk 70 to Tk 80 per kg, tall brinjal at Tk 40 to Tk 50 per kg, eggplant at Tk 50 to Tk 60 per kg, pumpkin at Tk 50 per kg, bean seed at Tk 80 per kg, papaya at Tk 20 to Tk 30 per kg, green chilli at Tk 80 to Tk 100 per kg, potato (new) at Tk 15 to Tk 20, the local variety of newly-harvested potato at Tk 45 to 50 per kg, carrot at Tk 60 to Tk80 per kg based on sizes and quality, okra at Tk 80 per kg, ash-guard at Tk 60 to Tk 70 per piece, tomato at Tk 60 to Tk 70.
Leafy vegetables, such as spinach, were selling at Tk 15 to Tk 20 per bundle, red spinach at Tk 10 to Tk 15, green spinach at Tk20 per bundle, coriander leaves at Tk 120 per kg.
In the fish market, Rohit and Carp are being sold at Tk 250-350, Walking fish at Tk 500-600, Telapia and Pangas at Tk 150-170.
Besides, a Hilsha weighing one and a half kilogram is being sold at Tk 1,000-1200 per kg while smaller size at Tk 500-600 only, while shrimp at Tk 600-650 only.
