Eden College BCL president, GS sued among 8

A Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader of Eden Women’s College unit filed a case against eight students including President of the suspended BCL Eden Women’s College unit Tamanna Jasmine Riva and General Secretary Razia Sultana on charges of extortion and attempted murder.
Jannatul Ferdous, Vice-President of BCL Eden College unit filed the case on Wednesday with the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Syed Mostafa Reza Noor of Dhaka court ordered the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lalbagh Police Station to investigate the case and submit a probe report by 24 October.
Other accused in the case are Nujhat Faria Roksana, Mim Islam, Nur Jahan, Ritu Akter, Anika Tabassum and Kamrun Nahar.
According to the case docket, Jannatul Ferdous was admitted to the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital on 13 September due to her illness and she later returned to her college on 22 September.
On September 24, on the instructions of accused Jasmine and Razia, accused Anika Tabassum and others snatched Tk20,000 and a laptop from her hostel room and also vandalised it.
Jannatul alleged that the next day (September 25) in front of Ayesha Hall, the accused Jasmine hit her with a hockey stick with the intention of killing her. Later, she and accused Mim attempted to suffocate her and the two accused then left Jannatul thinking she passed away.
Later she was rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital by the college students.
She went to Lalbagh police station Tuesday to file a case after her treatment.
However, Jannatul, in her statement, alleged that the Lalbagh Police did not take her case.
Earlier on September 25, a clash erupted between the Eden College BCL President Tamanna Jasmine Riva, General Secretary Razia Sultana’s followers and the agitating BCL leaders leaving at least 12-15 pupil injured.
The two groups involved in the clashes at the college on Sunday evening when the President and General Secretary organised a press conference regarding the allegation which arisen against them.
Riva and Razia have allegedly been involved with some illegal activities including seat trading, extortion, student torture and took control of its Hostels, Canteen even started extortion from street vendors after announcing the 44 members Eden College BCL unit committee on 13 May.
