Giri Chaya is the only eco-tourism prospect tourist complex situated in most eastern side of Raozan Upazila on Chattogram-Rangamati Highway.
It is just located at midpoint of the highway . Giri Chaya , a first class dinning house of multi cuisine with resting facilities of the walkway tourists plying to and from Rangamati and Chattogram. Any kinds of picnic or tour excursionist may take rest in the Resort . Adjoining the Complex building , a mini zoo also developed with sighting of natural beauties and bio-diversity . Different small sizes of wild animals and birds, snacks are available in the Zoo.
Any types of dinning programmes like engagement, akika, picnic gatherings, etc are arranged in the Resort .
While asked the owner and promoter of the Resort Md. Zamiruddin Parvez told this correspondent told that he had ambitions to build a bigger size tourist complex with lodging and fooding facilities than the existing pending govt patronization . His ultimate desire to develop the existing complex building into a multistoried building for developing into a deluxe guest house on way to tourism enriched Rangamati hill zone. He said if the government thinks to develop eco-tourism in this zone, Giri Chaya is one of the best site for Eco-Tourism Project.
He also apprised that most of the Ministers of present govt visited the complex earlier . Mentionable that US Ambassador also visited the Giri Chaya in last year when he was going to Rangamati and stayed for some time there .
Mentionable that tourism sector is a major foreign exchange earning sector in tourism enriched countries and our neighbouring countries of India, Nepal, Thailand, Maldives etc and our Government is trying to develop the tourism sector aimed at maximum forex earning from this sector. Informed circles opined that the Government should formulate a policy to develop eco-tourism and tourism development in a smaller scale .
Bangladesh Tourism Board should gear up their activities to develop this sector beside the existing Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation.
